I have been an artist over 5 decades as a professional photographer (and a part time painter).
My first encounter to the photography was in my high school when my classmate invited me to the photo club in the school.
I learned a bit of darkroom technique and took some photos with a borrowed Pentax SLR few times but that was it and I soon lost interest in it. Back then I was more interested in the musics and the paintings.
When I was 19, I bought my first camera, Olympus Pen half size camera. A year later I bought a Canon SLR then a Mamiya twin lens reflex. It was my hobby but I decided to become a professional photographer and I enrolled in a photography school in Tokyo and studied in the commercial photography class. After I graduated, I worked in a professional rental photo studio as an assistant for 1 year where I learned the real world professional photography and made connections to the design studios and the art directors in the advertising agencies.
I started as a freelance photographer shooting the popular musicians for the jacket covers and posters for the major recording labels. It was a big break for a novice. From there I started to work with the major advertising agencies and the fashion magazines.
As for the paintings, I studied in the art school but I couldn't finish it for various reasons but again in 1990, I took a class in the Parsons art school in New York and started to work on the fine art projects.
Some of the works were exhibited in the galleries in Soho and East Village in 1995~2000 and in Germany in fall of 2016.
Now I'm totally dedicated to the fine art works.
As of 2020, I'm a full time painter and a part time photographer.
